Learning Support Assistants – Bournemouth

Academics are recruiting hard‑working and passionate Learning Support Assistants to join a college in Bournemouth which caters for young people aged 16‑25 years with Asperger’s or high‑functioning autism.

Learning Support Assistants – January Start – Bournemouth

This is a full‑time, temp‑to‑perm position to start in January. Please only apply if you are looking for a permanent, full‑time position.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be suited to someone with previous experience of working in a school support position, ideally with pupils with SEN, in particular autism and/or Asperger’s. You will be required to support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Many of the learners display challenging behaviour and may also suffer with mental health conditions that impact their ability to achieve their potential, so the ideal candidate will be calm, empathetic and encouraging.

Qualifications

Students have individual learning plans encompassing the key features of post‑16 study programmes, tailored to their needs, abilities and preferences. All plans provide opportunities for learners to develop their functional, vocational, academic and personal skills, and experience community living.
