A UK educational organization is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in Westbury to provide essential support to students, helping them manage emotional needs and promote positive behavior. This role is ideal for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology looking to gain practical experience in mental health support. Candidates with personal or professional experience with additional needs will find this opportunity beneficial. Competitive pay of £85 to £95 per day with an ASAP start date.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for setting boundaries in the classroom and making sure the pupils understand the value of education. You will help them understand their own emotional needs, and ensure they feel safe and supported in school. You will help manage any challenging behaviour that arises as a result of the student's needs, as well as providing pastoral support to students. Most importantly, you will set an example for all pupils and act as a positive role model.
If you are a Graduate in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology, this is the perfect opportunity for you to utilise your knowledge of atypical behaviour and development, whilst also gaining practical first‑hand experience in the mental health sector. Previous experience working with children or adults with additional needs would be beneficial - this could be professional or personal experience.
The school has a significant focus on restorative practices, positive re‑enforcement as well as Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is therefore an ideal role for an aspiring Forensic, Clinical or Educational Psychologist, as well as aspiring Youth and Criminal Justice Officers.
