Job summary

Learning Support Assistant

Location: Stafford College

2 posts x 28 hours – term‑time working only (37 weeks per year)

Salary: £25,021 – £26,560 (NSUP5‑NSUP10) pro rata per annum (depending on skills and experience)

28 hour post actual salary £15,694 – £16,659 per annum

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full‑time students with around 2,000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes, over 1,500 apprentices and 850 individual employers. Our sixth‑form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

Responsibilities

You will primarily be responsible for the care and education of students with disabilities or learning difficulties, working under the direction of the Lead Support Tutor for additional learning support.

  • Assisting students in their work;
  • Preparation of rooms, equipment and materials;
  • Tracking learner progress;
  • Providing general individual assistance which may include attending to health, safety, physical and hygiene needs.
Qualifications and Requirements

For the position, you will be qualified to at least Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE equivalent).

Relevant experience or qualifications in an education or caring capacity, particularly supporting students or young people with learning difficulties and/or other disabilities, is desirable. A good knowledge of safeguarding and equal opportunities is required, and a Level 2 note‑taking qualification or equivalent is desirable.

You will be a good communicator, enthusiastic and self‑motivated with the ability to motivate others, along with good organisational skills. A flexible approach to working hours will also be required to accommodate the needs of learners.
