A leading veterinary provider in England is seeking a Lead Vet to join their Medivet Thurmaston 24-Hour hospital. The role offers a 4-day week with 1 in 6 weekends and includes a £5,000 joining bonus. Qualifications

Looking for your next leadership step in a supportive, well‑equipped hospital? Medivet Thurmaston 24‑Hour is a vibrant 2.5 Vet practice led by our Practice Manager, Claire, and we’re excited to welcome a Lead Vet to our growing team.

You’ll enjoy a 4‑day week (Monday‑Friday) with 1 in 6 weekends (including bank holiday rotation) giving you genuine work‑life balance. We’re also happy to chat about part‑time options if that suits you better.

Our Thurmaston hospital has been fully refurbished and offers an excellent surgical and soft‑tissue caseload, supporting both Medivet and local independent practices with OOH services. You’ll have access to everything you need to deliver outstanding care – digital and dental X‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, a tonometer, and orthopaedic kit – with plans underway to expand our three consult rooms even further.

Role Accountabilities
  • Provide first class clinical care through consultations, procedures and monitoring.
  • Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Provide exceptional client care giving clear updates on patients, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Observe the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for clients, ensuring payment and minimising debt.
  • Maximise capacity through the most effective utilisation of clinical skills.
  • Hold engaging clinical meetings with veterinary and nursing teams.
  • Support and carry out colleague clinical mentoring / development.
  • Pro‑actively support and share clinical best practice within and across clinics and the wider Medivet community.
  • Support with the growth of our new 24‑hour practice.
Your Skills and Experience
  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon, or with the eligibility to be registered.
  • Confident working sole charge.
  • A client‑oriented approach, with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience of working to the highest medical and surgical standards.
  • Experience of working with a team to develop a practice.
  • Competent in clinical examination and surgery.
  • Experience of building trusting relationships with colleagues, and working effectively as part of a team.
  • A great communicator, you will be an outstanding and positive example to others.
