Lead Software Developer – WSS

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3–4 days on‑site

Security Clearance: British Citizen

The Opportunity

My Client is looking for a proactive Lead Software Developer to join their Weapon Systems Simulation & Experimentation (WSSE) team, delivering innovative end‑to‑end synthetic environments that represent complete weapon systems.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role, combining software development, team leadership, and systems thinking. You’ll work closely with Project Leads and Simulation Architects to develop advanced simulation and visualisation solutions using C# and C++.

From early concept experimentation and AR / VR visualisation through to in‑service support and training, WSSE plays a critical role across the full Company product lifecycle — and you’ll be at the heart of it.

What they are looking for

• Lead Software Engineer with experience leading small development teams
• Strong background in C# and C++, with a robust problem‑solving mindset
• Passion for simulation, synthetic environments, and systems‑of‑systems engineering
• Open, adaptable approach to building reusable software across multiple products
• Exposure to real‑time simulation, DIS / HLA (desirable, not essential)
