Job summary

A leading construction consultancy is seeking Lead/Senior Estimators to support their Estimating Hub. The successful candidate will have proven experience in the Rail sector and will be responsible for producing accurate estimates and managing cost planning processes. Ideal applicants will possess a high standard of qualification in cost planning or quantity surveying and be a member of a relevant professional body.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in the Rail sector.
• Ability to produce accurate estimates and cost plans competently.
• Experience working in a large project environment.
• Experience delivering estimating/QS services on large projects.
• Experience with estimating software packages.

Responsibilities

• Produce comprehensive estimates and cost plans in a timely manner.
• Control and manage the estimating process at project level.
• Support the development and promotion of best practices in estimating.
• Assist with gathering and sharing estimating data.
• Support development and promotion of estimating good practice.
• Assist in achieving departmental objectives.
• Stay up to date with developments to provide best-practice advice.

Overview

Turner & Townsend is seeking Lead/Senior Estimators with proven experience in the Rail sector to join our Estimating Hub. The role is an embedded resource within client organisations and supports a wide range of Estimating and Commercial Intelligence outputs.

Responsibilities

• Production of accurate and comprehensive estimates and cost plans for projects in a timely and efficient manner;
• Control and management of the estimating / cost planning process at project level;
• Production of estimates / cost plans without management or supervision;
• Assist with the gathering and sharing of estimating / cost planning data;
• Support development and promotion of estimating / cost planning good practice within Turner & Townsend;
• Assist in the achievement of departmental objectives;
• Staying abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise to be able to give best practice advice in line with business objectives.

What we deliver to clients

• Estimate / cost plan production (from order of magnitude estimates through to detailed estimates built up from first principles);
• Estimating / cost planning assurance;
• Estimating / cost planning support to major programme set up;
• Data analysis and benchmarking.

Qualifications

• Qualified to high standard in cost planning, estimating or quantity surveying with proven relevant experience;
• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status or working towards;
• Detailed knowledge of cost planning, estimating, process and techniques;
• Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services in a large project environment;
• Previous experience of working with estimating software packages;
