Overview

Lead Officer - Housing Assistance Shared Service (DHH124)

Band K (SCP 36 - 40) £47,181 - £51,356 per annum, plus Market Supplement £4,000 per annum until 31st March 2028. Full time, permanent - 37 hours per week.

It is an exciting time to join us, as you will play a significant role in a passionate and committed team, making a real difference in people’s lives. Our Housing Assistance Shared Service is committed to supporting residents across Stafford Borough and South Staffordshire District.

We are looking for a dynamic and professional Lead Officer to join us to manage the high-performing Housing Assistance (Disabled Facilities Grants) service; a supportive and collaborative team which is proven to be efficient, effective and valued.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the complete DFG process, from receiving referrals to project completion, ensuring efficiency, quality and safety.
  • Leading procurement processes, including tendering key contracts, contractor management and ensuring value for money.
  • Developing and implementing systems and processes that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Managing budgets, resources and timelines, monitoring and influencing key performance indicators to meet challenging targets.
  • Cultivating a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and enthusiasm within the team.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders, including contractors, healthcare professionals, and local authorities.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and local government standards.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience in managing a team, ideally within the public sector or social care environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Expertise in running procurement processes, including tendering, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Enthusiastic and results-driven, with a commitment to delivering positive outcomes for vulnerable individuals.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Disabled Facilities Grant process or similar funding mechanisms.
  • A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work jointly with professionals including Occupational Therapists, architects and local authority staff for a joined-up multi-agency service.
  • You must hold a full UK Driving Licence.
