Job Summary

Lincolnshire County Council is seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer (G10) to join its Legal Services team on a temporary basis.

The postholder will provide specialist legal advice on all aspects of Adult Care law, including court work, Court of Protection matters, mental capacity, mental health, and Care Act issues.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample)
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and representation to the Council on Adult Social Care matters.
  • Manage a caseload covering Court of Protection proceedings, mental capacity issues, and mental health law.
  • Advise on statutory duties and responsibilities under the Care Act 2014.
  • Conduct and oversee court work, including preparation of legal documents and advocacy where appropriate.
  • Support officers and managers with complex and sensitive Adult Care legal issues.
  • Ensure legal advice is compliant with current legislation, case law, and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Legal Services and wider Council departments.
  • Maintain accurate records and meet required deadlines in line with Council procedures.
Skills/Experience
  • Proven experience of Court of Protection work.
  • Strong knowledge of mental capacity law and mental health legislation.
  • In-depth understanding of the Care Act 2014 and related statutory guidance.
  • Experience of handling court proceedings and complex legal cases.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to non-legal professionals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote working environment.
  • Experience working within local government or the public sector (desirable).
