Job description
Overview

We are working with one of Scotland's most recognisable and reputable groundworks and civil engineering contractor to assist them in their search for a Geomatics/ Land Surveyor.

The Geomatics Surveyor will deliver high-accuracy surveys and earthworks analysis for large-scale housebuilding projects. Using Trimble GNSS, robotic total stations and UAV's, you'll establish control networks, perform topographic and monitoring surveys, and integrate UAV photogrammetry processed in Pix4D into N4ce for classification, cut/fill volumes, and reporting. This role requires proficiency with Trimble GNSS systems, DJI UAV platforms, Pix4D photogrammetry workflows, and N4ce for earthworks analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Establish GNSS control networks and maintain RTK base/rover systems.
  • Conduct surveys across construction sites, capturing earthworks formations, bunds, stockpiles, and as-built levels for QA
  • Monitor earthworks progress and verify against design.
  • Plan and execute UAV flights for aerial mapping of bulk earthworks.
  • Collect imagery and ground control points for accurate georeferencing.
  • Process UAV data in Pix4D to generate orthomosaics, point clouds, and digital terrain models.
  • Import processed UAV and GNSS data into N4ce.
  • Classify surfaces (roads, plots, gardens, SUDS) and calculate cut/fill volumes.
  • Produce QA reports and export deliverables to CAD for design teams.
  • Maintain Trimble base stations, firmware updates, and IBSS or radio link integrity.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in land/engineering surveying with modern instrumentation (Trimble/Leica/Topcon).
  • Strong competency with GNSS/RTK/PPK/NTRIP and total stations.
  • Understanding of geodesy, coordinate systems, transformations, and datums.
  • CSCS card
  • Clean UK driving licence.
