Job summary

A leading laboratory testing organization in Greater London seeks a Laboratory Technician to assist with the preparation and analysis of water samples. The role requires adherence to quality procedures and excellent laboratory skills. Candidates should possess GCSE qualifications in Science and preferably a degree in microbiology. Qualifications

• GCSE in Science subjects is required.
• Degree in microbiology preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in a laboratory or production environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze water samples in accordance with quality procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and report anomalies to line leaders.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

Please note this is a one year fixed term contract. The working hours for this role are Tuesday to Saturday 06:00-14:00 and 10:00-18:00 on a 2 Week Rotation.

The purpose of this role is to assist in the day to day preparation and analysis of Water Samples within the Laboratory in accordance with documented procedures.

• Undertake all tasks within the laboratory appropriate to your level of training.
• Preparation and analysis of water samples utilising good laboratory practice.
• Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Quality System in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents.
• Maintenance of accurate and systematic records as detailed in the quality procedures.
• Work with Team Leader, Laboratory Manager to achieve daily targets, ensuring client turnaround time is met.
• Work with the team on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Report any anomalies or concerns direct to your line leader.
• Ensure client contact is conducted in a professional manner and any client queries are dealt with or notified to your line leader.
• Uphold and maintain client and company confidentiality.
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy.
• Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
• Ensure personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as required.

Qualifications

• Maths, English, Chemistry or Biology at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
• It will be an advantage to have a degree in microbiology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Good laboratory skills and practices.
• It will be an advantage to have experience in a laboratory or fast paced production experience.
• Enthusiasm, energy and driven outlook.
