A community run SEN school in Brixton are looking for a KS3 Teacher as they expand their provision for their school. This outstanding Ofsted rated school is looking for a KS3 teacher to teach these students in a static format, meaning they stay within the one class all day in a KS2 - type setting. These students have complex learning behaviours and all have a diagnosis of ASD.

The KS3 Teacher Job

We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, KS3 Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Brixton specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). The students are working from a curriculum that is student-centred, with a focus on choices, independence and the world around them.

In this rewarding KS3 Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student. Your expertise as an SEN or KS3 Teacher will help develop individualised learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills.

The School

The successful KS3 Teacher applicant would be joining an outstanding rated SEN school in Brixton for children with moderate learning difficulties. This SEN school offers provision for pupils from 5-19 years, who have severe learning difficulties and speech and communication issues. The school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupil's specific needs and allows the students to gain independence and life skills.

KS3 Teacher Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement personalised educational programs based on a curriculum with three various pathways.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches and tailoring the learning to suit their needs.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.
  • Work with and lead a support team within the classroom.
KS3 Teacher Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of ASD and MLD.
  • Experience working in a primary education setting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
