Job description

GSL Education are looking for a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN in a Key Stage 1 class at a well regarded primary school in the Brentwood area. This role is full time, starting in January 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to a child s learning and development while being part of a supportive and friendly school community.

The Role:
  • Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with SEN in KS1, helping them access the curriculum effectively.

  • Support academic, social, and emotional development in line with individual learning plans.

  • Assist with classroom activities, encouraging independence and confidence.

  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure consistency and progress.

  • Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

  • Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary school setting.

  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for helping children thrive.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Confident in following care plans and support strategies.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3) are desirable but not essential.
