Job description
KS1 Class Teacher (Year 1)

St Mary & St Margaret’s CE Primary School is a warm, welcoming and inclusive one-form-entry school at the heart of the Castle Bromwich community. Rooted in a strong Christian ethos, our school is shaped by clear values of love, respect, empathy, forgiveness, teamwork and belonging, which underpin everything we do.

We are seeking a dedicated Year 1 Class Teacher to join our team for two terms to cover staff absence. This is an opportunity to become part of a supportive, nurturing school where relationships matter and where staff work closely together to ensure that every child feels valued and able to thrive.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning, work collaboratively with colleagues, and contribute positively to our strong culture of care, aspiration and achievement.

The post is ideally based on working Monday, Tuesday and Friday; however, we recognise the importance of work‑life balance and would be happy to discuss some flexibility in working days for the right candidate.

We are looking for a teacher who:
  • has enthusiasm, warmth and a genuine commitment to supporting all pupils
  • has excellent teaching, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • brings creativity and flexibility to their teaching
  • works effectively as part of a close-knit, supportive team
  • is reflective and committed to continual professional development
  • has high expectations and the ability to improve outcomes for all children
  • is committed to our vision to help every child be the best they can be
  • promotes positive behaviour that is relational, restorative and focused on learning
  • believes wholeheartedly in equality, inclusion and celebrating diversity within our school community
In return, we offer:
  • happy, caring and enthusiastic children who are keen to learn
  • a friendly, hardworking and supportive staff team who genuinely look out for one another
  • strong, supportive leadership and committed governors
  • positive relationships with parents and the wider community
  • very good facilities and a well‑resourced learning environment
  • "a culture of nurture and belonging where all are welcome and supported to thrive" (SIAMS Inspection, 2024)

Informal visits to the school are warmly encouraged and welcomed. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit or to discuss the role further.

St Mary & St Margaret’s CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
