Job description

Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join a small, friendly catering team in a specialist school setting in Robertsbridge. This is a permanent, term-time only role, working 5 days per week, Monday-Friday.

The successful Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the school's main chef, forming a team of two. You'll support with food preparation, serving meals, cleaning, and maintaining hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll also be working in a school environment with children and young people with special educational needs. It's essential that you're comfortable in this setting, with a patient, positive, and respectful approach at all times.

  • Hours: 10:00am - 3:00pm
  • Days: Monday to Friday
  • Term Time Only: All school holidays off

Kitchen Assistant Duties Include:

  • Supporting the chef with daily food prep

  • Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment and surfaces
  • Ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are met
  • Working calmly and supportively in an SEN school environment

This Kitchen Assistant role would suit someone who is organised, hands-on, and enjoys being part of a small team. Previous kitchen or catering experience is helpful, but not essential - full training will be provided.
