A local educational institution in Bristol is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join a dedicated team. The role involves preparing meals, setting up the dining area, and ensuring a positive dining experience for children. Ideal candidates will have a Level 2 Food Safety certificate and experience in catering. This term-time position is 20 hours per week, with a pay rate of £12.65 per hour. We have a vacancy for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team of hard-working and friendly staff. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced catering professional who is passionate about serving quality food to children and who is willing to work within an established and friendly team under the direction of the Kitchen Manager. Duties will include preparing fruit and vegetables and other food items, setting up the dining hall, serving the children and staff, washing up and cleaning of equipment and other tasks as directed by the Kitchen Manager. Ideally, you will have experience of working within a busy catering environment where all meals are prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients. You will have a passion for preparing and serving food to children in a friendly manner, encouraging them to try new things and make a positive contribution to the overall meal time experience at our school. Our kitchen often prepares and serves upwards of 500 meals per day so our new team member must be prepared to learn quickly and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
Uniform will be provided and must be worn correctly at all times. The position is term time only which includes working on our five staff training days. Hours of work are 20 hours per week - Monday - Friday, 10am - 2pm. The position of Kitchen Assistant attracts a salary on the BG2 scale of £12.65 per hour. This position is initially being recruited on a fixed-term basis until 31st August 2027. The post holder must hold a Level 2 certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene. Training for this can be arranged if necessary for the successful applicant. Further on the job training (such as the safe use of kitchen equipment and awareness of allergens) is mandatory and must be completed as and when required.
