Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary facility for all shelter animals.

  • Ensure surroundings for the animals are clean and sanitized, including kennels, walkways and isolation areas.
  • Feed and water animals; wash bedding, bowls and toys.
  • Transport animals to veterinarian offices for treatment daily.
  • Empty garbage; assist with administrative duties as needed.

Overview

Under general supervision, this position maintains a safe and sanitary facility for all shelter animals, and provides humane handling and care by assuring animals’ nutrition, housing and basic medical needs are met on a daily basis; ensures that the surroundings for the animals are always clean and sanitized, including kennels, walkways and isolation areas; feeds and waters; washes bedding, bowls and toys; transports animals to veterinarian offices for treatment daily; empties garbage; assist with administrative duties as needed; Weekend and holiday hours required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Requires a high school diploma or GED; 1 year of job related experience; other requirements include but are not limited to: ability to carry up to 50 lbs short distances; ability to humanely restrain animals when necessary
