All underpinned by technology created with purpose.

Your role

As a Junior User Experience Designer, you will be joining the growing and exciting Digital Excellence community who are continually sharing knowledge and expertise. We are all passionate about user centred design, critical thinking, problem solving and designing and building digital services and products.

You will be part of a supportive UCD community and be paired with a mentor who will invest in your development. You will work together to expand on your skills in this profession. Working at Capgemini Invent would give you opportunities to develop and grow, working with major clients in both public and private sector. Our offices are in a variety of locations including London, Manchester and Glasgow. We offer hybrid working, however depending on your project you may have to travel to client locations.

What you'll do
  • Use different techniques to understand users and their needs, so that you can translate user stories and propose user-focused, evidence-based design approaches.
  • Design and prototype user interfaces ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals for some of our public and private sector clients.
  • Advocate for accessible and impactful services, ensuring solutions meet accessibility and inclusivity standards.
  • Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid Agile delivery.
  • Communicate across organisational and technical boundaries, understanding the context and making complex and technical information simple and accessible for non-technical audiences.
Your profile

You will bring the below skills and experience:

  • A keen interest in the field of user research and user-centred design, keeping up to date with industry developments and conducting self-led learning
  • Some hands-on experience of user research with an understanding of a range of methods and knowing when to apply them appropriately.
  • Some experience in planning and conducting qualitative studies, including remote and in person interviews, observations, diary studies, concept testing and usability studies.
  • Familiar with quantitative methods such as surveys to identify actionable insights or add meaning to qualitative findings.
  • Some experience utilising both quantitative and qualitative methods to identify actionable insights and find deeper meanings to your findings
  • Familiarity with analysing and synthesising both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Strong storytelling, communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
  • Awareness of agile delivery methods.
  • Experience or understanding of working with Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards, using GDS design principles.
  • You currently hold an active SC (Security Check) Clearance or are eligible to receive SC clearance
Ideally, you would also have
  • Previous experience conducting research or working in a research-focused role in a professional setting.
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, anthropology, Human Computer Interaction or any user experience degree or modules, and passion for technology's unlimited potential and ability to engage with people.
  • A love of learning - you are eager to take opportunities to develop your skills in parallel with the needs of your clients.
  • Experience, understanding or interest in accessibility testing or inclusive design principles
