Job description

Ready to kick-start your career in surveying with a company that works on some of the UK's most exciting projects? As a Junior Surveyor, you'll get hands-on experience with both traditional methods and the latest cutting-edge technology. From iconic buildings in London to large-scale infrastructure and countryside projects, including rare opportunities overseas, no two days will be the same. You'll work alongside industry experts, support all four of our business divisions, and contribute to projects for prestigious national and international clients. If you're ambitious, eager to learn, and want to fast-track your career in a world-class surveying environment, this is the role for you.

  • Support senior surveyors with data collection and processing across a wide range of projects, always working to Plowman Craven's high standards of quality, safety, and accuracy.
  • Learn and apply survey theory, techniques, and the latest instruments - building the skills and knowledge you'll need to grow into a well-rounded professional surveyor.
  • Take ownership of project data, from capture through to delivery, using the right technology and methodology to meet each client's requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Lead Surveyors, keeping them updated on progress and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Gain experience liaising directly with clients on site, learning how to translate project specifications into accurate deliverables.
  • Embrace flexibility, with opportunities to work on a variety of sites - from city centres to countryside locations - and occasionally work nights or away from home.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and collaboration, supporting your team while developing your own skills and career.
  • Some prior experience in surveying or a related qualification (Surveying, Geospatial, Civil Engineering) would be an advantage, but just as important is the drive to learn and grow.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the confidence to work well in a team and independently.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with good IT skills and an eye for detail.
  • Flexibility to travel and occasionally work nights or stay away when projects require.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for building a long-term career in surveying and geospatial services.
  • Site clearance qualifications such as CSCS or PTS are beneficial, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with survey disciplines such as measured buildings, topographic surveys, rail, or monitoring would be a plus.
  • Experience with laser scanning, data processing, and AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Awareness of RICS Property Measurement Standards & Guidelines would be an advantage.
  • Competitive salary with opportunities to grow as your experience increases.
  • Generous holiday allowance and benefits package.
  • Access to wellbeing initiatives and regular social events to keep you connected.
  • The chance to work with the latest surveying technology on high-profile projects across the UK (and sometimes overseas).
  • Real opportunities for career progression as part of a growing, employee-owned business.
