As we continue to expand our operations into the South West — with a new office opening in Axminster — we are now looking to strengthen our commercial and estimating capabilities by bringing in a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Estimator.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long‑term career in construction estimating and commercial management. We are less focused on finding someone with years of experience and more interested in finding the right person — someone with a good attitude, an eagerness to learn, and a genuine interest in the construction industry.

Working alongside an experienced Estimating and Commercial team, you'll gain hands‑on exposure to the full estimating process, helping prepare tenders, cost plans, and quotations for a range of civil engineering and landscaping projects. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and develop into a key member of the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of tenders and quotations
  • Support the development of cost estimates, take‑offs, and material schedules from drawings and specifications
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and project records
  • Support the wider commercial team with cost tracking and project administration
  • Learn and apply company estimating systems, software, and procedures
About You
  • Some understanding of construction methods, terminology, or processes
  • Experience working for a subcontractor or within a construction‑related business is ideal
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with good attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
