Join our Housing Repairs department as a Multi Skilled Joiner, where you will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of joinery work including repairs, voids, planned repairs, and capital investment programs. This role is ideal for someone who is skilled in multiple areas and committed to delivering high-quality repairs and customer service in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities
  • Perform joinery and multiskilled repairs across council-managed properties.
  • Diagnose and assess locking systems and tenant-reported repairs.
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and IT systems (e.g., PDAs).
  • Ensure safe use of scaffolding and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, security, and appropriate use.
  • Manage imprest stock and record material usage accurately.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and comply with the Council’s Customer Care Policy.
  • Wear and maintain issued PPE and uniform.
  • Assist in training colleagues and participate in the Out of Hours Emergency Repairs service if required.
  • Promote safeguarding and wellbeing of vulnerable individuals.
  • Uphold equality, diversity, and inclusion standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent.
  • NVQ Multiskilling Certificate.
  • Experience in the building industry and multiskilled tasks.
  • Biohazards awareness and training.
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • ICT skills (e.g., PDA/iPad use) are desirable.
  • Knowledge of council property maintenance is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with tower scaffolds.
  • Written documentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Full valid driving licence.
  • Understanding of drainage and groundwork.
  • Willingness to work out-of-hours on a rota.
