A prestigious UK university is seeking a full-time Lecturer in Health Psychology to lead teaching on MSc and BSc programmes. The role involves curriculum development, supervising research projects, and providing academic support to students. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Health Psychology and have experience in teaching and research. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an innovative educational environment focused on health psychology and student success.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Health Psychology (Education) to join the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London (KCL). The post holder will contribute specialist health psychology teaching on our BPS accredited MSc (Health Psychology) and BSc (Psychology) programmes.
The Equality Act of 2010 protects the rights of our students and staff and provides a framework to fulfil our duties to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and in addition, to advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between those who share a protected characteristic and those who do not. We are committed to free speech and academic freedom, believing that our foundational purpose as a university is to create spaces where a wide range of ideas can be discussed and debated, and where members of our community can express lawful views without fear of intimidation, harassment or discrimination.
The appointment will be made on the Academic Education Pathway, where the primary contribution is to education (80 % of role) and secondary contribution to scholarship which is primarily education‑focused (20 %). On average, this would be the equivalent of four days a week spent on education. The AEP contract is focused on the delivery of education, education‑related scholarship, and leadership in education. Expectations include teaching, supervision, student support, educational leadership and innovation, education‑related research and administration.
As post holder, you will provide educational leadership on our MSc in Health Psychology. This would include programme and/or module leadership, course delivery, assessment, research project supervision and personal tutor roles. You may also support other undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses within the school and faculty, and across King’s, for example with project supervision.
The scholarship component of the role should not exceed 20 % and is expected to be substantially education focused. Therefore, your research should either be in a pedagogical area or one that impacts on the student experience and/or leads to evidence‑based teaching.
To find out how our managers will review your application, please take a look at our ‘How we Recruit’ pages. If you have a strong field of candidates, we may use the desirable criteria to choose our final shortlist, so please include your evidence against these where possible.
We welcome your thoughts on how organisations can create an inclusive environment, including one which supports free speech and the exchange of a wide range of ideas.
This is a full‑time (35 hours per week) position, offered on an indefinite contract. The role is located at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, a Faculty of King’s College London.
