Job description
Overview

We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone. We’re simplifying banking beyond traditional methods, offering features like hot coral cards and get-paid-early, supported by financial education on social media and award-winning customer service. We’re not about selling products — we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.

We’re looking for a Job Architecture expert to join us on a 12-month FTC and help build something from the ground up. You’re not just knowledgeable about levelling and structure; you’re energized by exploring innovative solutions and shaping Monzo’s future.

Monzo is growing quickly. We want a structure that grows with us — fair, clear, and designed to support people, not slow them down. We want everyone to understand how they can progress, how their role fits into the bigger picture, and how we reward impact. That’s where you come in.

This isn’t about fixing what already exists. It’s about creating something new from the ground up. You’ll design the whole thing: how we define roles, how we think about levels, and how that connects with our pay approach and people systems.

You’ll bring it to life — building the framework, guiding the process, and helping everyone understand not just what we’re doing, but why it matters.

If you’ve done this before at scale, and you’re excited by complexity, clarity and meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you.

This isn’t a small tweak to an existing system. It’s a company-wide transformation. You’ll be designing the structure that helps Monzo scale with clarity, fairness and purpose.

What the work looks like
  • You’ll take full ownership of researching and establishing Monzo’s future approach to Job Architecture. You’ll align it with our long-term vision, growth plans, and evolving technology.
  • You’ll research and design the Job Architecture methodology, processes, and how it will be applied and managed ongoing.
  • You’ll consider how we benchmark roles, define job families and levels, and support career progression.
  • You’ll lead the project end-to-end — discovery through design to delivery — ensuring it lands well across the business.
  • You’ll run key conversations across Monzo, listen deeply to teams, shape the right solutions, and clearly communicate the final framework and practice.
  • You’ll act as our expert advisor, offering clear, strategic guidance rooted in best practice and tailored for Monzo.

This work touches every team. Done well, it creates clarity, fairness and opportunity for everyone.

Qualifications and experience
  • You have extensive experience researching, designing and implementing Job Architecture frameworks with a global mindset and advising on best fit and practice.
  • You have developed and implemented internal role levelling frameworks and have detailed knowledge of market benchmarking techniques.
  • You have experience in project management including vendor management.
  • You have Fintech / startup / scaling experience.
  • You understand the interaction between a HRIS and Job Architecture framework.

Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay. We’re committed to diversity and inclusion. If you’re passionate about this role and keen to learn and grow with us, we encourage you to apply — even if you don’t have everything listed yet.
