ITIL Service Asset & Configuration Manager vacancy in Hybrid - Corsham/Remote (294lw)

Ex-Mil Recruitment are supporting a major Defence programme in sourcing an experienced ITIL Service Asset & Configuration Manager (SACM) to lead the design, implementation, and governance of configuration and asset management processes for a next-generation multi-domain communications capability.

This is a key service management role within a secure Defence environment, ensuring that accurate, reliable configuration and asset data is maintained to support operational readiness, change management, and system assurance across complex secure networks.

This role requires current SC status, and the successful candidate must be eligible for DV.

The contract is for an initial 3 months, but is highly likely to be extended until March 2027.

A hybrid role – 2-3 days on site in Corsham.

The Role

You will be responsible for defining and maintaining the full SACM process, ensuring configuration items (CIs), asset data, and relationships are properly captured, validated, and governed. Working closely with change, incident, and problem management teams, you will manage the Configuration Management System (CMS/CMDB), coordinate audits, establish standards, and ensure the integrity of data required to support capability transition into service.

Your work will enable controlled change, faster incident resolution, improved impact assessments, and robust lifecycle management across a modern Defence IT environment. This role requires strong ITIL expertise, structured process ownership, and experience delivering in Government or Defence settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, implement, and continually improve the SACM process
  • Establish CI and asset standards, naming conventions, attributes, and baselines
  • Manage population, maintenance, and data integrity of the CMS/CMDB
  • Oversee discovery, integrations, and data import activities
  • Conduct and direct configuration audits, ensuring corrective actions are taken
  • Ensure compliance with SACM procedures across all delivery teamsProvide configuration data to Change, Incident, and Problem Management functions
  • Produce reports, KPIs, impact assessments, and management information
  • Coordinate resources and ensure training is provided to supporting staff
  • Maintain lifecycle management of all assets and CIs from creation to disposal
Essential Skills & Experience
  • ITIL v3 or ITIL v4 qualified
  • Experience delivering projects within UK Government or Defence
  • Ability to tailor SACM processes to complex, multi-domain programmes
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles and lifecycle control
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of Army communication systems or wider Defence communications environments
  • Experience performing configuration audits and managing asset inventories
  • Familiarity with change, incident, and problem management frameworks
