Are you an IT professional with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to deliver excellent support? Do you enjoy working across a variety of systems and want to play a key role in keeping IT services secure, reliable, and effective?

At SYTECH, we do more than digital forensics – we support justice, security, and innovation. Behind the scenes, our IT infrastructure is the backbone of everything we do, and we are looking for an IT Support Engineer to join our team in Stoke‑on‑Trent. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role covers everything from hands‑on support to strategic input on IT projects. You will ensure colleagues get the support they need while helping us improve and future‑prove our IT services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first and second‑line IT support across the business.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, patching, backups, and monitoring.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain hardware and software across the organisation.
  • Monitor system alerts and performance issues, resolving them promptly.
  • Maintain IT documentation, asset registers, and knowledge base articles.
  • Contribute to IT projects, including rollouts, upgrades, and implementation of new tools.
  • Support and manage LAN, workstations, servers, and VOIP systems.
  • Ensure IT security standards are upheld, including SIEM monitoring, antivirus, and patch management.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and provide occasional cover for the IT Manager.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience supporting and managing IT systems in a professional setting.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of:
    • Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Intune, Group Policy
    • Hypervisors (VMware/Hyper‑V)
    • VOIP phone systems
    • SQL databases and Linux systems
    • SIEM solutions and antivirus administration
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support colleagues at all levels.
    • A proactive approach to security, compliance, and system performance.
    • Full UK driving licence (occasional travel required).
Desirable
  • IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL).
  • Experience in ISO‑regulated environments (ISO 27001, ISO 9001).
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS).

Remuneration

Starting salary: £28,000 – £38,000 – depending on your experience, skills, and qualifications, plus the opportunity for growth based on your performance and contributions to the role.
