Overview

Job Title: IT Specialist

Reports to: Duty Manager

Location: London - Heathrow (T5 site)

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Responsibilities

This role would suit someone who will exercise caution whilst at the same time adhere to rules and procedures. Maintaining quality and the ability to work in a friendly manner to high standard operating procedures that are important aspects of this job. The role is technically orientated and involves a variety of activities which require attention to detail and the ability to communicate with others. If you are self-disciplined, logical, accurate, compliant, factual, conventional, flexible, active and have the ability to persuade and advise others in areas of your knowledge and expertise then this role would suit you.

  • Manage the WINTEL Infrastructure estate.
  • Support of Baggage Information Displays (BIDS)
  • Support of Manual Coding stations, Problem Bag stations, Vibes and Scada clients
  • Monitor ticketing queue and responds to service requests or incidents. Resolve/escalate infrastructure related incidents in a timely manner minimizing potential disruptions
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems as required
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends
  • Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively
  • Support, design, implement and test of disaster recovery routines & procedures
  • Follows defined procedures to monitor systems resolve problems or escalate.
  • Develop and maintain new and existing procedures
  • Ensure all requests are dealt with efficiently, and correctly in order to carry out daily task and duties plus housekeeping
Role Qualification and Skills
  • Windows XP/7/10/11 desktop OS
  • A sound grasp of ICT skills including use of MS Office
  • Linux/Unix (Experience or understanding)
  • Backup/Restore imaging technologies (Awareness and understanding)
  • PowerShell/Python or any scripting experience.
  • Network/Wireless/Routing (Understanding and awareness)
  • Ability to work as single skillset knowledge source
  • Ability to work under pressure to strict time scales
  • Good Analytical Skills
  • Understand incident management and ticket assignment, working within published SLAs and OLAs
