Overview

IT Operations Manager

Salary: £45,264 - £49,143 per annum (Grade 10). Contract type: Full-time (36.5 hours per week), Permanent.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team responsible for business-critical activities associated with the administration, validation and processing of data across IT systems that underpin qualifications and exams delivery at WJEC, including time-sensitive activities related to issuing GCE and GCSE results to students.
  • Support the organisation’s digital ambitions by contributing to the modernisation of digital service delivery, alignment with industry best practice, and increasing automation to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Act as a key point of contact to scope and implement new requirements in support of changes to the qualifications and assessment portfolio.
The person
  • Knowledgeable IT professional, ideally with a background in application support, IT systems management and administration.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in a frontline operational IT environment and some experience applying business analysis techniques to identify and shape new requirements for digital systems and services.
Benefits

We operate a hybrid working model, allowing time between WJEC offices and home working subject to business needs. Applications are invited from across the UK, but regular attendance at Cardiff offices is required (1–2 days per week on average).
