Job title: IT Network & Infrastructure Engineer
Contract Type: 12-month fixed term contract
Location: Ludgate Hill, London or Newton Aycliffe (Hybrid)
Salary: Between £55,000 - £65,000 DOE
Your new role
Here at Hitachi Rail we have a unique opportunity for an experienced IT Network & Infrastructure Engineer to join the team on a 12-month fixed term basis. As an IT Network & Infrastructure Engineer you will support and implement core networking systems as well as providing technical support for all network related services including Cisco and Fortigate, BT MPLS, Colt MIA.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Utilise technical skills and experience to resolve new or unforeseen problems.
- Support the infra team on Incident, problem management and change management of Networking related activities.
- Support Project related activities
- Travel to other company sites to assist in problem resolution as required and deployment of New hardware installations or upgrades.
- Deployment of updates and fixes to network equipment to mitigate security vulnerabilities, in order to maintain cyber security compliance
- Hardening activities to ensure networking equipment complies with Cyber security policies and in line with cyber essentials + certification
- As a secondary responsibility there are opportunities to assist infrastructure team in non-network equipment related activities, such as DHCP, DNS, Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, monitoring, asset management, server admin, mitel telephony, firewall administration and many more
- Work with other colleagues, group company services and third-party providers to ensure business services are delivered in a timely and reliable manner

About you
Essential
- Strong Interpersonal skills, ability to communicate to business managers
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Robust experience in providing networking support for corporate Infrastructure systems in a multi-site organisation (> 500 persons)
- Strong experience in supporting Cisco switches, access point, Wireless Lan controllers systems and upgrades
- Strong experience in supporting Fortigate firewalls, creation of firewall rule, VPN’s, DMZ’s etc.
- Strong Knowledge of IP networking, including routing and security
- Strong experience of Cisco WIFI technologies
- Good working knowledge of Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, branch connectors
Desirable
- CCNA certified
- Good working knowledge Windows server administration
- Good understanding of hardware virtualisation, particularly VMware.
- Good understanding in Trellix security products, SCCM, Ivanti
- Good understanding with latest versions of Citrix XenApp
