Job description
Overview

Here at South Thames Colleges Group, we are seeking an IT Infrastructure Analyst to oversee both on-site networks and cloud-based infrastructures, with a primary focus on hosted Active Directory services as well as Azure technologies, while remaining versatile enough to incorporate other platforms as necessary.

As a pivotal member of the organisation's IT infrastructure team, you’ll be responsible for the comprehensive management, maintenance, and enhancement of IT systems to ensure uninterrupted operations, robust security, and continuous improvement. Central to this role is the responsibility for managing IT infrastructure projects under the guidance of the Deputy IT Director. This includes the design, implementation, and optimisation of IT systems to support organisational objectives.

The IT Infrastructure Analyst ensures that core systems are regularly maintained, upgraded, and secured to meet strict compliance standards and safeguard against potential threats. By carefully monitoring performance, you’ll identify areas for improvement, optimising the efficiency and reliability of IT systems. A significant part of the role involves acting as a key escalation point for the college onsite support teams after they have exhausted what is available to them, providing advanced technical expertise as part of the 3rd line support framework. You’ll diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, leveraging a combination of technical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and collaboration with vendors or external support teams to minimise downtime and maintain smooth operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee on-site networks and cloud-based infrastructures with a focus on hosted Active Directory services and Azure technologies; remain versatile to incorporate other platforms as necessary.
  • Manage IT infrastructure projects under the guidance of the Deputy IT Director; design, implement, and optimise IT systems to support organisational objectives.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and secure core systems to meet compliance standards and safeguard against threats.
  • Monitor performance, identify improvements, and enhance efficiency and reliability of IT systems.
  • Act as a key escalation point for on-site support teams in the 3rd line support framework; diagnose and resolve complex issues with vendors or external support as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align IT systems with organisational goals.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Strong expertise in cloud and on-premises backend services, including Azure, Exchange, Intune, SharePoint.
  • Detailed understanding of Microsoft Active Directory; desktop and server operating systems; and Microsoft System Management Tools.
  • Knowledge of network technology and network topologies and services.
Location and Travel

Primarily based at Merton College, this is a Group Wide Post and you will travel/work from any of STCG campuses as required.
