Job summary

A technology consultancy is seeking a proactive Field Engineer to support IT operations across multiple sites in London. The ideal candidate will have experience in field-based IT support and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include managing laptop deployments, providing first-line IT support, and maintaining asset logs. A full UK driving licence is required for travel. This role is contract-based at a day rate of £180, Inside IR35.

Qualifications

Field Engineer – IT Support

Location: London (Field-based)

Contract: 3 months (Inside IR35)

Day Rate: £180/day

We’re working with a client who are seeking a proactive and reliable Field Engineer to support our IT operations across multiple sites in London. This is a field-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys being on the move and working directly with end users.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering laptop refresh projects (deployment, configuration, and collection of old devices)
  • Supporting onboarding and offboarding of employees – ensuring laptops and peripherals are issued, configured, and returned securely
  • Providing first-line and basic second-line IT support on-site (troubleshooting, hardware swaps, password resets, connectivity issues)
  • Keeping accurate logs of all hardware movements and updates in the asset management system
  • Liaising with the central IT support team to escalate and resolve complex issues
  • Managing daily schedules to cover multiple sites efficiently
Must Have
  • A full UK driving licence (travel required)
  • Previous experience in field-based IT support or desktop engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows laptops, Office 365, and common IT tools
  • Good understanding of IT asset management processes and security protocols
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills – able to work independently
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing site requirements and priorities
