{{NL}}We are seeking an experienced IT Configuration Manager to lead the design, implementation, and governance of a robust configuration management system within a large‑scale IT integration programme for the UK defence sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, traceability, and compliance of all configuration items across complex environments, including both cloud‑based and on‑premises server infrastructures.
{{NL}}Establish and maintain a comprehensive configuration management framework aligned with organisational and MOD standards.
{{NL}}Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and tools for configuration identification, control, status accounting, and audit.
{{NL}}Define and maintain the structure and classification of Configuration Items (CIs) across all environments.
{{NL}}Configure and optimise CMDB tooling (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy) to ensure accurate data integrity and relationships between CIs.
{{NL}}Implement automated discovery and reconciliation processes to keep the CMDB current and reliable.
{{NL}}Apply ITIL V4 principles to define and implement compliant processes for configuration and change management.
{{NL}}Ensure adherence to UK MOD security and quality standards throughout the lifecycle.
{{NL}}Oversee configuration activities across hybrid environments (cloud and server-based systems).
{{NL}}Collaborate with engineering, operations, and security teams to maintain accurate configuration baselines.
{{NL}}Work closely with agile development teams to align configuration management with sprint planning, release cycles, and backlog refinement.
{{NL}}Support SecDevOps practices to embed security and compliance into continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
{{NL}}Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and MOD representatives to ensure configuration management objectives are met.
{{NL}}Provide regular reporting and audits to demonstrate compliance and readiness.
{{NL}}Proven experience in configuration management within complex IT programmes.
{{NL}}Strong knowledge of ITIL V4 and ability to design and apply compliant processes.
{{NL}}Demonstrable knowledge with managing and overseeing entire release management cycle to include hotfixes, defect tracking, production operations status reporting.
{{NL}}Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and on‑premises server environments.
{{NL}}Familiarity with UK MOD standards, security classifications, and governance frameworks.
{{NL}}Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and associated artefacts (release planning, retrospectives, backlog management).
{{NL}}Exposure to SecDevOps principles and tooling.
{{NL}}Practical experience in defining CIs and configuring CMDB tools.
{{NL}}ITIL V4 Certification.
{{NL}}MOD Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain).
{{NL}}Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., ManageEngine CMDB).
{{NL}}Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
{{NL}}Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
{{NL}}Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
