Job description

This position is for a Portfolio Manager with State Street’s Investment Solutions Group (ISG), our multi‑asset class investment team. For more than three decades, ISG has developed asset class‑spanning products and services aimed at helping our clients realize their diverse goals. Our team is global with offices in Boston, London, Sydney, Dublin, Krakow and five other investment centres around the world. We value people who are highly self‑motivated with the ability to execute independently but who are equally able to collaborate and work well within the team.

The Portfolio Manager will be a key addition within State Street Investment Management’s Investment Solutions Group (ISG) and will be focused on managing an existing book of portfolios, participating in the development of new portfolio solutions with the rest of the team for the EMEA marketplace. In this capacity, the Portfolio Manager plays an integral role for the team in terms of day‑to‑day portfolio monitoring, management, including cash flow management and rebalancing, delivering on performance objectives and interacting with internal stakeholders and from time to time with clients. Additionally, the individual will be involved in the team’s ongoing research efforts, process improvements, system enhancements and product development and launch.

The successful candidate will have hands‑on experience in portfolio management, a passion for the capital markets, high attention to detail, a mindset focused on delivering the right outcomes for our clients and good communication skills. A preliminary experience in the UK and European fund markets, trading, and/or model portfolios would be differentiators. The role will require a minimum presence in the company office in line with company policy. State Street is committed to striking the right balance for employees between working from home and in the office and the candidate is expected to work 3 business days per week in the company’s office. The role is based in London and will report to the EMEA head of the Investment Solutions Group.

Role Responsibilities
  • Multi‑asset class portfolio management including setting strategic and tactical asset allocation policy, selection of best‑in‑class investment vehicles from an open‑architecture line‑up and allocating across both active and index investment strategies.
  • Portfolio monitoring and management activities on exposure, performance and risk as a primary portfolio manager and back‑up portfolio manager.
  • Client engagement both in maintaining and driving new business requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience interacting with clients during portfolio reviews.
  • The role will be fully integrated in the EMEA teams and interact closely with team members located in EMEA and globally.
  • The role follows the Certification regime of the FCA.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years of investment management experience.
  • BA/BS required. Advanced Degree / CFA / CAIA / FRM or progress toward one preferred.
  • Pre‑existing practice of AI tools such as Microsoft Co‑Pilot or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of financial assets, portfolio construction, risk management, and quantitative investment methods.
  • Familiarity with optimisation tools and financial software.
  • Good presentation and business writing skills.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to execute independently and maintain a strong team orientation.
  • Proactive and with a desire to continue to learn and grow professionally.

Are you the right candidate? Yes! We truly believe in the power that comes from the backgrounds and unique experiences our employees bring with them. If you like change and innovation, seek to see the bigger picture, make data‑driven decisions and are a strong team player, you could be a great fit.
