Job description
Overview

You'll be a key member of our dedicated teams, playing a vital, hands-on role in giving our global clients the support they need. This involves providing investment consulting services and advice covering markets and strategic considerations, such as managing assets (for both the DB and DC Client Groups) and liabilities (for the DB Client Group only). You'll gain early experience of dealing with a wide range of investments, adapting them around economic conditions and outlooks. In the DB Client Group, you'll also learn how and why pension scheme liabilities change because of economic assumptions such as inflation and interest rates and the effect that market movements have on invested assets. In the DC Client Group, you'll learn about the DC pension vehicles, applicable regulatory and legislative rules and main asset classes and investment theory relating specifically to a DC pension scheme.

Responsibilities
  • Provide investment consulting services and advice on markets and strategic considerations, including asset and liability management for DB and DC pension schemes.
  • Support learning about how and why pension scheme liabilities change with economic assumptions and market movements (DB) and about DC pension vehicles, rules, asset classes and investment theory (DC).
  • Develop client relationships, enhance analytical skills, and explore new technologies within an inclusive environment designed for learning and growth as an Aon placement student.
  • Work closely with diverse mentors and explore a range of niches that align with your strengths.
  • Network with colleagues to support your development. Participate in the Industrial Placement Programme and engage in development activities in addition to your role.
  • Engage in elements of the development programme, including on-the-job learning, centralised learning, and structured feedback to support your goals over the 12-month programme.
Development Programme
  • Business learning: On-the-job experiences to deepen knowledge of your team and solution line.
  • Centralised learning: UK graduates participate in Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops to build knowledge, confidence and network.
  • Feedback: Initial goal-setting with your line manager and ongoing feedback during the 12-month programme.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Motivation and ambition to pursue a career in Investment Consulting.
  • Strong consulting skills with a client-focused outlook.
  • Passion and curiosity to understand what we do and eagerness to learn more.
  • Commercial awareness to provide clear and confident support and advice to clients.
  • You will need to be on track to achieve a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in any degree subject.
  • Permanent contracts offered from day one; eligibility to work in the UK required (including pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, or current right to work).
  • First 6 months typically based in the office to support learning and progression, followed by a flexible arrangement with at least 3–4 days in the office or with clients.
