Inventory & Logistics Accountant

Location: Swindon Support Centre (hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office)

About the role

We’re seeking a proactive, strategic, commercially astute, results-driven Inventory & Logistics Accountant to join our High Street Finance team, based at our Support Centre in Swindon.

The aim of this role is to take full ownership of stock-related financial information and reporting across the business, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data, problem solving issues as they arise and pro-actively coming up with solutions. You will also provide analytical and financial support producing weekly reports analysing performance, production of monthly management accounts supporting with audit requirements and assisting on planning cycles. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Being responsible for the end-to-end ownership of stock information, accounting, and reporting for TGJones, including the investigation of stock variances and providing recommendations to the business on solutions
  • Producing weekly reports for the merchandising and logistics teams, as well as monthly management accounts with variance analysis for review by senior management, and reporting monthly stock gains and losses
  • Tracking stock provisions and supporting the preparation of analysis for audits
  • Assisting in the production of planning cycles
  • Business partnering with merchandising and logistics teams, including day-to-day analysis, modelling, and management of risks and opportunities
  • Continuously improving existing processes and making recommendations for enhancements
  • Carrying out other ad hoc tasks appropriate to the role to support finance and business stakeholders

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA)
  • Prior experience of budgeting and month end reporting, preferably from a retail/FMCG background
  • Experience working across multiple systems, with advanced MS Excel skills
  • Exceptional data analysis skills to interpret and present complex data to help influence business decisions
  • The ability to interact with key stakeholders & teams in the business
  • Proactive individual, able to work under pressure & adhere to deadlines
