Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer – London

SSA are currently recruiting for a leading M&E contractor who is looking for an intermediate level Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team to complete projects on high-end luxury apartments. The main role will involve managing external design consultants and CDP specialists during the construction stage of design delivery on high-end residential projects in Central London.

The successful candidate will primarily validate the designs of specialists rather than undertaking design tasks firsthand, relying on their mechanical engineering experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work with the appointed design consultancy to successfully deliver MEP designs to clients.
  2. Collaborate with the design and commercial teams to determine design requirements.
  3. Work alongside BIM engineers to ensure the design meets client expectations.
  4. Perform engineering checks, including calculations, details, drawings, and schematics, to verify the accuracy of the design consultant's work.
  5. At project outset, agree on deliverables and schedules with the design consultancy, preconstruction team, and planner.
  6. Participate in regular design and procurement meetings to update progress and determine technical sub-requirements.
  7. Review initial design consultancy deliverables and request revisions as necessary.
The Ideal Candidate:
  1. Experience with high-rise housing projects and Stage 5 design (RIBA Stage 5) is essential.
  2. Proven experience working with contractors and maintaining high standards in MEP work.
  3. Experience in high-rise residential projects is vital.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Strong IT skills.
