Overview

Our client, a fast-growing Cambridge-based bio-tech business, is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to start ASAP. This is a hands-on, part-time role (c25 hours/week) for a finance professional who can hit the ground running, establish strong financial foundations, and support the business as it gears up for its first audit year and significant growth.


Our client is a thriving, ambitious bio-tech organisation, based in central Cambridge, operating in clinical data analytics and health care innovation. With a small but dynamic team, the business is growing rapidly, and expected to double in the next 12 months. They are implementing new systems and processes to support its expansion.


Responsibilities


  • Establish and strengthen financial processes, controls, policies, and reporting

  • Lead implementation of financial systems, including PO, budgeting, and R&D tracking

  • Prepare and refine management accounts, support forecasting, and budgeting

  • Work closely with a small finance team to ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations

  • Support the business in gearing up for its first audit year and future growth


Candidate's Profile


  • Proven experience in accounting, financial controls, and audit preparation

  • Strong track record in implementing systems and processes

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, start-up or high-growth environment

  • Highly organised, pragmatic, and able to deliver quickly with a can-do attitude

  • Ideally someone who has worked in a small business or start-up environment
