Interim Communications Lead

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Location: Belfast (on-site requirement)

Rate: £26.15 p/h PAYE / £34.98 p/h Umbrella

Hours: 36 hours per week, 4.5-day working pattern

Start: ASAP

Clearance: BPSS (will be processed)

About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced Interim Communications Lead to join a major transformation project based in Belfast. This is a hands‑on role supporting a significant organisational transition, requiring someone who can step in quickly, provide strategic guidance, and deliver high‑quality communications outputs from day one.

Working closely with the project team and wider communications stakeholders, you'll play a key role in shaping messaging, supporting colleague onboarding, and ensuring consistent internal and external communications throughout a critical transition phase.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading the set-up and delivery of communications activity for a newly formed organisation.
  • Developing clear messaging, communication plans and engaging content to support change activities.
  • Creating and implementing internal communications tools and channels during the transition.
  • Supporting external communications, community relations and media engagement where required.
  • Working with UK and global communications teams to ensure aligned, consistent messaging.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on communication strategy and approach.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong background in communications, including internal, external, and community engagement.
  • Proven experience in change communications, transformation programmes or M&A environments.
  • Ability to work at pace, quickly understand context, and operate with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to craft clear, engaging and sensitive messaging.
  • Confident working with multiple stakeholders and building productive relationships quickly.
  • Understanding of the Northern Ireland operating environment is highly desirable.
