Rate: Competitive day rate (Inside IR35)

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)

About the Role:

I am working with a local authority looking for an asset manager experienced in a local authority setting. The role will be leading the strategic management of the council's property portfolio while supporting regeneration, service delivery, and financial sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the development and implementation of the council’s Asset Management Strategy
  • Review and rationalise the existing property portfolio to drive efficiency and value for money
  • Provide expert advice on acquisitions, disposals, leases, valuations, and asset utilisation
  • Work closely with regeneration, housing, and capital projects teams to align asset decisions with broader council priorities
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Support in the development of business cases for capital investment and property-led transformation
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, elected members, and external partners

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in asset management within a local authority or wider public sector
  • Strong technical understanding of property and estates management, including valuations, disposals, and lease management
  • Commercially astute with experience developing and delivering asset strategies
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and managing complex property issues
  • Membership of RICS
