Job description

A public healthcare service in Bangor seeks a technical support officer for the Fleet Department. This role involves coordinating with garages, monitoring service delivery and managing relationships with suppliers while ensuring compliance with operational standards. Scottish Power Electricity Networks (SPEN) contract. Report to: Project Manager. Location: Bangor, Wales. Salary: competitive plus benefits. Purpose of the role: as the business continues to expand its operations across the utility and infrastructure sectors, the Linesman role is essential for maintaining fleet efficiency and safety.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent qualification, plus additional knowledge of financial procedures and contract law, and/or equivalent experience in a business admin/procurement environment.
  • General understanding of contracts management and willingness to undertake training to enhance knowledge of specialised equipment and technical procedures to ensure value for money and support cost improvement initiatives.
  • Sound knowledge of workshop and garage technical operations, detailed technical knowledge of vehicle and mechanical fitting practices and procedures.
  • Experience of using financial systems such as Oracle for ordering supplies and Microsoft office packages (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience of working within a demanding environment with competing priorities and workloads, and of liaising with customers and service users across organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of business administrative practices relating to workshops and garages, demonstrating trust values.
  • Ability to travel within the geographical area, able to work hours flexibly and with minimal supervision.
  • Self‑motivated, highly committed, effective organisational and administrative skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, able to build productive working relations internally and externally, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Computer literate with standard keyboard skills, high level of commitment and motivation, ability to assimilate information quickly, think logically and work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Logical thinker, good written and verbal communication skills, able to convey information and complete all necessary documentation accurately.
