Insurance Analytics Developer

Location – London. Hybrid working 40% (2 days per week).

LCP is an award‑winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing market‑leading capabilities and advice across pensions and financial services, energy, health, and analytics.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Developer, you will be playing a crucial role in advancing LCP InsurSight, our insurance analytics platform. InsurSight has been used to assess over £150bn of non‑life insurance business since launch in April 2020 and we are expanding the team to help us to support our expanding client base whilst delivering our exciting plans to develop the platform further. Our team consists of:

  • 1 Product manager
  • 4 C# developers
  • 2 Python developers
  • 1 Actuarial data scientist
  • 2 Front end developers
  • 1 DevOps and site reliability engineer
  • 3 QA Engineers

You will have the benefit of the guidance of our actuarial data scientists, Python developer and product manager, but also the opportunity to take ownership of your work.

What will you be doing?
  • Engaging in the iterative enhancement and feature development of LCP InsurSight, aligning with the strategic vision of the team and responding to evolving client needs
  • Primarily focusing on C# with supplementary involvement in other languages (e.g. Python), under the guidance of senior developers
  • Collaborating across disciplines, interfacing with actuaries, specialists, and developers to integrate comprehensive analytics into software solutions, enriching the platform’s value proposition
  • Advocating and implementing industry‑standard software development practices, code quality, maintainability, and robust testing methodologies to ensure the reliability and scalability of our solutions
  • Participating in the research, evaluation, and prototyping of emerging technologies and methods, contributing to the team’s innovation and continuous improvement ethos
  • Facilitating the dissemination of technical knowledge within the team, aiding in the development of a learning‑oriented culture that values curiosity and professional growth
Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrable proficiency in C# development (.NET 6 / 8)
  • Practical knowledge of or eagerness to learn Azure PaaS/SaaS offerings (Azure Functions, App Services, Table/Queue/Blob Storage), ASP.NET WebAPI, and database technologies (CosmosDB)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of software engineering principles such as unit testing, change management control and SOLID principles
  • Exposure to or keen interest in the non‑life insurance insights domain, with a willingness to bridge technology and actuarial science to deliver impactful solutions
  • Effective communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences and collaborating constructively within cross‑functional teams
  • A problem‑solving mindset, proactive in identifying and addressing complexities, with a commitment to excellence and a penchant for continuous learning
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes, emphasizing adaptability, collaboration, and a customer‑centric approach to software development
  • Experience in Python development is beneficial but not essential
