Our client, based in Central London, is an associate member of the London Palladium and Platinum Market, and trades precious metals including Platinum Group metals, gold and silver globally. This position is a marketing role focused on existing and target customers and may also include a small amount of back‑up trading coverage. The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the company in marketing P&L.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and expand business with existing customers in the precious metals space as assigned by seniors in New York or London.
- Develop new business opportunities in line with the department's business strategy.
- Manage an assigned group of customer accounts as the primary marketer and provide back‑up marketing support for other customers, as agreed with senior management.
- Identify new customers and business counterparts within the broad strategic plan laid down by senior management.
- Use own judgement in making decisions for any business matters.
- Support the Chief Trader and cover as necessary.
- Ensure that customer business is booked correctly and in a timely manner; advise traders and mid/back office to ensure correct risk and liquidity management and that administrative procedures can be handled efficiently.
- Train and support FO Assistants to maintain the customer database and market analysis spreadsheets.
- Cooperate closely with the precious metals trading desks in London, New York and Tokyo and promote the sharing of ideas and information.
- Ensure that business is transacted in strict adherence to general compliance rules and the company's internal controls.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the precious metals market (including specifically leasing/swaps and the physical business in PGMs, Ag and Au).
- Marketing and deal‑making skills.
- Developed track record of closing deals and creating profitable new business opportunities.
- Degree level education in a relevant subject (overseas equivalents apply).
- Advanced Excel skills; intermediate level required for Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- Self‑starter, able to work on own initiative and without direct supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
- Strong team player within the immediate team/wider metals trading department and internal colleagues.
- Flexible and responsive to business demands.
- Works well under pressure.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Develops strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Works within set parameters observing company protocols, procedures and internal control standards.
- Actively demonstrates the skill to express divergent views with tact and diplomacy.
- Previous trading experience advantageous, but not essential.
