As the Innovation Lead - AI & Robotics, you will be at the forefront of our digital transformation journey. Reporting directly to the Head of Digital Development, you will drive the development and integration of cutting‑edge AI and robotic solutions across both clinical and non‑clinical services within our Trust.
The Innovation Lead - Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics is a pivotal role within the DDaT Operations team, driving the development and integration of Intelligent Automation combining Robotic Processes (RPA) with Artificial Intelligence (AI) across clinical and non‑clinical services within the Trust. Reporting directly to the Head of Digital Development, this role involves the development and integration of cutting‑edge AI and robotic solutions across clinical and non‑clinical services, playing a key role in transitioning the Trust’s legacy systems to advanced AI and robotic solutions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI and robotic technologies within the Trust, including digital diagnostics and intelligent automation solutions. Designing, developing, and maintaining robotic automations using the Power Automate platform and other Power tools. Collaborate with the Head of Digital Development to align AI and robotic initiatives with the broader digital transformation strategy, focusing on integration with Electronic Patient Records (EPR), medical devices, corporate solutions, and other digital platforms. Act as the subject matter expert on AI and robotics, providing strategic guidance and ensuring that innovations are grounded in the latest technological advancements and best practices. Manage the full lifecycle of AI and robotic projects, from ideation through to deployment and evaluation. Ensure all AI and robotic solutions comply with relevant governance, security, and quality standards, including ISO 27001, DCB160, and DPIA requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Business Analysts, Developers, and Clinical Teams, to deliver projects that meet clinical needs and improve patient outcomes. Report regularly to the Head of Digital Development on project progress, risks, and issues, ensuring that all developments are delivered on time and within budget. Work closely with clinical and operational stakeholders across the Trust to identify opportunities for AI and robotics to improve service delivery. Facilitate change management processes, ensuring that new technologies are effectively integrated into existing workflows and that staff are supported through training and development. Engage with external partners, including other NHS Trusts, academic institutions, and industry experts, to share knowledge and collaborate on innovative projects. Lead the development of AI algorithms that enhance digital diagnostics capabilities, ensuring that these are rigorously tested and validated. Work with clinical teams to integrate AI‑driven diagnostic tools into patient care pathways, improving the accuracy and speed of diagnosis. Monitor and evaluate the performance of AI algorithms, using data‑driven insights to refine and improve their effectiveness. Ensure all AI and robotic developments adhere to national and Trust‑specific governance standards, including those related to data security, patient confidentiality, and ethical use of AI. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all projects, ensuring transparency and accountability in the development process. Participate in relevant governance and oversight committees, providing expert advice on AI and robotics.
