Job description
Position

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced infection prevention and control nurse on a Fixed Term basis to cover maternity leave for 12 months.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist IPC advice and support to staff and teams in acute and community services to ensure adherence to good practice.
  • Act as an adviser disseminating specialist skills and knowledge to all staff groups, patients and visitors; remain visible and accessible as a good role model.
  • Contribute to the daily organisation of the service in the absence of the Senior Infection Prevention & Control Nurse.
  • Provide strong, visible on‑site leadership, support and guidance to all Trust and community staff, ensuring a patient‑focused service.
  • Identify and ensure prompt investigation of outbreaks of infections, analyse information to determine root causes, share lessons learned and improve practice to reduce recurrence.
  • Ensure processes are in place and assist with the collection of clinical surveillance and monitoring data for national and mandatory surveillance.
  • Utilise analysis of surveillance results to identify areas for improvement and work with clinical teams to achieve these improvements.
  • Work in collaboration with Clinical Site practitioners to ensure safe placement and movement of patients, enhancing the patient experience.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Previous IPC experience essential.
  • Computer literate with good organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated autonomous working style and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Self‑motivated, strong work ethic, passion for IPC, ability to manage own workload, excellent communication skills and ability to engage with others.
  • Ability to influence and articulate best IPC practice across a broad range of services.
