A professional association for legal practitioners is seeking Independent Assessors for End-Point Assessment of Level 3 Paralegal Apprentices. This flexible remote role allows you to conduct assessments and provide feedback while using your legal expertise. Independent Assessors – End-Point Assessment for Level 3 Paralegal Apprentices

The EPA comprises two assessment methods:

• Professional Discussion underpinned by Portfolio
• Project Report and Presentation with Q&A

CILEX welcomes applications for one or both roles.

You will be responsible for conducting end‑point assessment for Paralegal apprentices, ensuring that apprentices receive a high‑quality assessment experience and accurate, fair and timely results.

Conflicts of Interest

• The CILEX Awarding Body Conflicts of Interest form must be submitted with the application to be a CILEX Assessor. Assessors must have no direction connection or conflicts of interest with an apprentice, their employer or training provider.
• CILEX cannot accept applicants who work or have worked in the last 2 years with or for training providers in the delivery of the Paralegal apprenticeship.
• CILEX may not be able to accept applicants who work for employers who employ Paralegal apprentices.

The Roles

Independent Assessor: Professional Discussion underpinned by Portfolio

• Review apprentices’ portfolios and produce questions for the Professional Discussion in accordance with CILEX requirements and criteria.
• Conduct Professional Discussions in accordance with CILEX requirements.

Independent Assessor: Report and Presentation with Q&A

• Mark apprentices’ reports and presentations and produce questions for the Q&A in accordance with CILEX requirements and criteria.
• Conduct Presentations with Q&A in accordance with CILEX requirements.

Both roles

• Grade assessments making a judgement on the competency of the apprentice in accordance with the CILEX grading criteria and requirements.
• Produce constructive feedback for apprentices in accordance with CILEX requirements.
• Attend and contribute to standardisation and assessor training activities.

What we are looking for

• Recent relevant experience of the Paralegal occupation or legal sector to at least occupational level 3 gained in the last 3 years or significant experience of the occupation or sector.
• A legal qualification at Level 4 or above.
• Experience of assessing competence.

Fees

Competitive – available on application.

Contract

Contract for Services (freelance), issued annually.

Professional Discussions and Presentations with Q&A take place during standard working hours in accordance with the EPA delivery schedule.
