Overview
The Inclusion Midwife will work strategically to raise awareness of inequalities amongst vulnerable groups, dispel misperceptions and ensure safe, quality care. They will remove barriers that prevent service users from accessing care and support an inclusion framework in Maternity. The role is based in Maternity with close collaboration with maternity colleagues and is a contributor to Trust-wide equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) activities, working with the Trust EDI team, Staff Inclusion Networks and other internal and external stakeholders to deliver parts of the NHS People Plan related to EDI.
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of an inclusion framework in Maternity led by the Consultant Midwives and Compliance Lead Midwife.
- Contribute to Trust-wide EDI activities and collaborate with the Trust EDI team, Staff Inclusion Networks and other stakeholders.
- Promote equality of opportunity and diversity for all staff, recognising that a workforce representative of the community served improves experiences and outcomes for service users.
Qualifications
- NMC registered midwife
- Evidence of recognised post-registration development in midwifery care
Desirable criteria
- Experience of partnership working
- Knowledge of clinical governance processes
- Demonstrable experience of providing care for women and birthing people with protected characteristics or complex needs
- Experience of project management
