IBA MRF Operative

Hourly Rate: £13.50 per hour

Hours: 45 hours per week, 6:30am to 4:00pm

Location & Postcode: Whisby Landfill, LN6 9BT

As an IBA MRF Operative at FCC Environment, you will:

  • Provide essential support in the processing and management of Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) at our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). You will play a key role in maintaining safety, operational efficiency, and environmental standards.
  • This vacancy is for a full‑time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Safely carry out assigned tasks and duties in accordance with instructions and safety procedures
  • Positively and negatively pick material from the appropriate picking line
  • Assist with cleaning the IBA MRF facility (sweeping, tidying up, minor maintenance tasks)
  • Maintain housekeeping within the mess facility
  • Clean drains, litter pick, and maintain site infrastructure
  • Monitor the quality of outputs from the IBA MRF
  • Move metals to bulking containers and keep accurate records
  • Adhere to FCC health and safety policies
  • Report any accidents, near‑misses, or unsafe conditions
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business
What are we looking for?
  • Experience: Qualifications in the operation of heavy plant (e.g., Telehandler, Tractor, Bowser). Experience working on a waste acceptance site and understanding of landfill operations or IBA processing
  • Essential Knowledge: Possession of relevant plant tickets
  • Personal Attributes: Hard‑working, good communication skills, and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to follow instructions, listen to others, and contribute ideas
  • Relationship Building: Open, approachable manner; treats others fairly and respectfully
