Job summary

A multidisciplinary design consultancy is seeking a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join their team in the UK. This hybrid role involves supporting the planning and design of transport and civil infrastructure projects. Ideal candidates will have an MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering and prior exposure to relevant concepts through academic or internship experiences. You'll gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced engineers. The position offers on-the-job training within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Exposure to highways, drainage, or transport engineering concepts through academic projects.
• Internship, placement, or summer experience in consultancy or contracting.
• Familiarity with UK design principles (e.g., DMRB, MfS).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of highways, active travel routes, junctions, drainage, and public‑realm schemes.
• Prepare 2D and 3D design models, drawings, and technical documents using industry‑standard software.
• Support feasibility studies and optioneering exercises.

Skills

Willingness to learn and take initiative

Experience with CAD drafting or digital modelling

Competent in Excel and technical report writing

Good organisation and time‑management skills

Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Experience presenting technical information

Education

MEng or BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering

Student membership of ICE or CIHT
