Overview

HR Officer – Our NHS Client is Recruiting (5-Month Contract)

Location: Norwich (with occasional travel to other sites)

Band: Band 5

Contract: 5-month Contract / full-time

Our NHS client is seeking a proactive and professional HR Officer to join their central HR operations team on a 5-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable NHS HR experience within a large and respected healthcare organisation, supporting managers and staff across a wide range of people-related matters.

In this role, you’ll provide trusted HR advice, coach managers, and contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture, while developing your own professional skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide HR advice and guidance to managers and staff on a variety of employee relations issues, including performance, sickness absence, grievance and disciplinary matters.
  • Support and manage casework, ensuring issues are progressed consistently and in line with policy.
  • Coach and support managers to build their HR knowledge and confidence.
  • Draft correspondence, policies, and meeting notes, ensuring accurate HR records.
  • Support recruitment and selection, including job description development and participation in interviews.
  • Contribute to HR projects, policy reviews and the development of best practice guidance.
  • Act as a mediator in conflict resolution when appropriate.
  • Deliver training, inductions, and HR-related presentations.
About You

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills who can work sensitively and professionally within a healthcare environment.

You will bring
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards Level 7) or equivalent.
  • HR experience, including involvement in casework (absence, conduct, grievance, capability).
  • Knowledge of employment law and its practical application.
  • Experience supporting recruitment processes.
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and HR systems).
Desirable
  • Previous HR experience within the NHS or another large, complex organisation.
  • Experience delivering presentations or training.
