A government agency in Wallingford is seeking a Human Resources Generalist 3 to lead HR staffing and supervise HR processes within the Department of Developmental Services. The State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Human Resources (HR) is recruiting for a Human Resources Generalist 3 (HR Staffing Unit Lead/Supervisor) within the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). The position is located at 35 Thorpe Avenue in Wallingford, CT. It is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week role, Monday‑Friday, First Shift, with a hybrid work model.
Considerable knowledge of HR management, state and federal laws, civil rights, equal employment opportunity, job classification, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefit programs, pay administration, workers’ compensation, HR information systems, labor relations, and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication, conflict resolution, analytical, and strategic planning skills. Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and to supervise and plan succession.
Eight (8) years of professional experience in HR management, equal employment opportunity/affirmative action, or labor relations management.
One (1) year of the general experience at the full working level in HR management, equal employment opportunity/affirmative action, or labor relations management.
College training may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree in HR management, labor relations, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field may be substituted for one additional year of general experience. A law degree may be substituted for two additional years of general experience. For state employees, one year as a Human Resources Generalist 2, Human Resources Specialist, or Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist 2 may be substituted for general and special experience.
Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and may be required to travel.
