Job summary

A leading energy company in Aberdeen is seeking a qualified HSE Assurance & Improvement Lead. This role involves supporting auditing and assurance activities, managing HSEA systems, and ensuring compliance with legislation. The ideal candidate will have a science/engineering background, relevant HSEA experience, and excellent communication and analytical skills. Passion for HSEA performance excellence is essential. Regular offshore travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science/engineering or equivalent with additional qualifications in HSEA.
  • Advanced knowledge of HSEA Management Systems.
  • Previous relevant experience in HSEA management and auditing.
  • Valid BOSIET/FOET certification is required.
  • Prepared to travel, including offshore visits.

Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to the design and oversight of the HSEA audit and assurance program.
  • Ensure effective monitoring of all audit activities.
  • Conduct incident investigations and provide follow-up reports.
  • Contribute to the development of training programs related to HSEA.
  • Update and communicate the HSEA integration plan across the Company.

Position Overview

Ithaca Energy is accepting applications for the position of HSE Assurance & Improvement Lead, located in our Aberdeen Office.

Reporting to the HSE Assurance & Integration Manager, the HSE Assurance & Improvement Lead will support all auditing and assurance activities.

Responsibilities
Audit and Assurance
  • Supports and contributes to design and oversight of the Company HSEA audit and assurance programme, working with Technical Authorities to ensure all risk areas are identified and subject to effective audits at a representative frequency. This should include internal and external audits, contractor/third/party audits and status across LOD audits, site/office-based assurance audits, desktop reviews and remote auditing methods where the projects audited are considered high risk, i.e. complex HSEA activities, high value contracts, and/or, and work presenting a reputational risk
  • Supports and contributes to ensuring all audit and assurance activities are actively monitored and visible throughout the Company inc. working with Supply chain, Wells, Technical Authorities and Operations, and reviewing status versus an annual plan, action tracking/trending and status of action management
  • Supports and contributes to ensuring that HSEA audit and assurance activities are suitably prepared for, facilitated, executed and closed-out, with any actions logged and appropriately closed-out, with evidence available
  • Supports and contributes to ensuring developing and implementing an effective and proactive Audit and Assurance methodology to ensure root cause tracking, aligned to complement reactive incident investigation, to enhance data sets and target corrective attention
  • If required, conducts incident investigations, root cause analysis, as well as incident reviews and learning from incidents sessions, and provides timely follow up reports, lessons learned and safe operating practice solutions in line with LRP plan
  • Supports with undertaking asset visits in line with annual schedule (audits, visits and regulatory support when required), supporting audit/regulatory activities providing and safety leadership/coaching expertise
Business Management System
  • Supports with ensuring that new legislation is identified in a timely manner and plans for compliance are established, tracked and effectively implemented within the Business Management System
  • Supports with ensuring that the HSEA Management System is suitably structured, accurate, user-friendly and aligned with a process of continual improvement
  • Supports with ensuring that specific processes and governing documents/ procedures are available through the Business Management System, and that they are valid, and demonstrate compliance with current legislation and Company requirements
  • Supports with ensuring continued certification of the Business Management System to recognised standards where pursued (e.g. ISO 14001/45001/50001)
  • Supports with ensuring that key documentation, internal policies, standards and procedures, are categorised accordingly to ensure relevant personnel are targeted, key aspects summarised, roll-outs tracked in line with documented protocols etc
  • Supports with ensuring that suitable and sufficient information regarding accessibility, purpose and use of the HSEA Management System is available to personnel via developed training and awareness modules
HSEA Integration Activities
  • Contributes to ensuring supporting development, implementation and updating of the HSEA Integration and Must Win Plans to ensure that the Company effectively identifies, aligns and implements/integrates the appropriate systems and processes for delivering operational success
  • As part of HSEA integration, responsible for ensuring that integration activities deliver fit for purpose tools/system/processes, designed to enhance HSEA and operational performance, and that implementation is undertaken in line with change management requirements
  • Proactively works with operational sites, and other functions, to effectively deliver the above, ensuring close alignment and close coordination of activities
  • Updates key procedures and other documentation, and ensures implementation of effective training and competency arrangements as part of HSEA integration and general scopes
  • Develops, maintains and regularly communicates a detailed HSEA integration plan across the Company, providing clear line of sight of key objectives and timelines
Training & Communications
  • Contributes to designing and delivering implementation programmes and training activities that improve the performance and delivery of HSEA Assurance and Integration across the Company
  • Contributes to the HSEA Communication Plan, supporting with HSEA/technical safety moments, summarised procedure updates, themes of the month, intranet updates, Vlogs and blogs etc
  • Contributes to developing and delivering an audit and assurance report on a quarterly basis for dissemination to the Company, highlighting key themes, lookbacks and lookaheads
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in science/engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications / certifications in HSEA or hydrocarbon processing related subjects
  • Advanced knowledge of HSEA Management Systems, Incident and HSEA Data Management Systems, Incident and HSEA Auditing Techniques
  • Previous relevant experience in HSEA management, covering operational activities, certified management systems, operational mergers and acquisitions and integration activities, including interfacing at senior level
  • Supervisory/management skills, ideally with experience of supervising / mentoring personnel
  • Valid BOSIET/FOET
  • Passion, drive and commitment for HSEA performance excellence
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Possesses excellent communication skills including good presentation capabilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving (pro-active) ability
  • Prepared to travel, including regular visits to operational sites offshore
