Overview

Are you interested in a 13 month engineering placement starting in June 2026 with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our HRSG and Balance of Plant team has an exciting industrial placement opportunity and is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills!

RWE's Gas Engineering and Outage (E&O) Group supports our UK, Dutch and German portfolio of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Stations. Within this group, our HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator) and Balance of Plant (BoP) Team is responsible for the management, integrity and process safety of many different mechanical systems and components.

You will be principally responsible for providing key engineering support to Didcot B CCGT Power Station in Oxfordshire, ensuring it can continue to be operated safely, efficiently and with the greatest possible commercial flexibility. There may also be exposure to our central engineering office in Swindon and other RWE sites around the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake data analysis to diagnose problems to help in both long and short-term projects.
  • Gain important on-site experience and valuable hands-on practical skills and training.
  • Support development of the pressure system asset integrity processes.
  • Deliver on plant improvement projects and plant investigations.
  • Assist in the delivery of a significant HRSG outage.

Job Requirements and Experience
  • Ideally, you should be pursuing a BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering or Science degree at an undergraduate level. You should also have an interest in project coordination.
  • Your degree should include an industrial placement year to meet the requirements for this role.

Assessment Centre

The Assessment Centre will take place on Thursday 27th November 2025 face to face in Swindon at RWE UK Head Office. Accommodation will be booked on your behalf and travel subsidised by RWE. The evening prior to the Assessment Centre a meal will be held in Swindon which you will be required to attend.
